As The Economy Is Down, Vitamin Sales Are Up!

· Read this recent article, April 4, 2009 in the New York Times about how the economy is affecting what people can afford to do about their health.

· Loss of jobs, loss of health insurance, so to stay healthy more people are buying vitamin supplements. “If I had a job with health insurance, I probably would have gone to see a doctor by now,” said Ms. Parham, 39, who lost her clerical job at American Greetings a while back. “But instead, I’m here buying Echinacea. I hope it works.” In flusher times, Ms. Parham said, she spent $50 a month on perscriptions for her asthma, allergies and other chronic problems. Now, she pays $6 a month for over-the-counter protein supplements and oregano oil capsules. “That’s an important savings for me,” she said. “It means I can rent a movie or make the kids food that they actually like.”

· Even organic foods are too expensive so some people are buying fish oil and vitamins supplements.

· A lot of consumers seem to be doing the same math. Sales of vitamins and nutritional supplements, which have grown consistently for years, have surged in recent months, rising as the stock market has fallen. People are cutting back on many items, from bread and milk to designer jeans and flat-screen televisions, but they are stocking up on pills that they think can spare them expensive doctor visits.

· The Vitamin Shoppe has tracked a rise in new customers of about 20 percent over the last six months. That increase is at least 25 percent higher than the rise in new customers that the chain saw in the recession of 2001.

· Naturally doctors and the medical profession are alarmed. For many reasons, the long term affect of their patients with serious health issues and the loss of income for the pharmaceutical companies.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

· Myself, I too took a financial hit and wanted to cut my expenses. I have been taking good nutritional supplements for over ten years and they have made the difference in my health, but they are not cheap. I thought for a very short minute that I would cut back on my supplements but after really thinking seriously…what else do I really have but my great health. If I lose that nothing else will work for me.

I hope that you are making the right decisons for your health….really what do we have if we do not have our health.

Best to set the sail correct now!

February 1st, 2009

2026_57_77-sailing_web

Jim Rohn has some fabulous quotes but I liked this one…The same wind blows on us all, it is the set of the sail that changes your life”.

What does that exactly mean?   You have three groups of people.

  1. Make no changes in your life group!   You are happy with what you are doing or maybe you would like to be doing something different but don’t know how or just can’t do it.  So 10 years from now your life will be the same.  In my experience no changes usually can result in a bit of backsliding into something you would rather not be doing.  Especially  in today world  with the internet moving so quickly, everyday technology is changing so you may end up in a “you snooze and you lose” situation.
  2. I will wait and see what others do group! There are a lot of people that are dreamers.  Tomorrow I will do this or that but tomorrow comes and nothing happens.  Some people are just too afraid to stick their toe out there,  outside of that safe zone.   Some of us have people that will help us with our dreams but we  really are not listening.   As a result nothing changes   These are the people that are going to wait and see if it works for someone else and then maybe make a few changes.  The problem with that is the opportunity may be gone.
  3. Or the let gets started group! These are the people that  have a vision or dream and they know in their heart they are going to achieve.  They are not afraid to make mistakes, are willing to listen, and will take chances. This definitely is not the easy route but it is the only way changes occur.  Yes there will be failures,  maybe even a lose of money but if you are going to make changes and set the sail for where you are going it does take some courage to step out of that comfort zone.  After some very hard work the end result,  you will gain  more confidence, pride in your accomplishments and the knowledge that you have chosen your path, your destiny, your course of action.

I can speak from experience. I have over the last years and especially this past year have been learning how to explode by network marketing business online.  At first I thought that I was out of my league.  I am of the retirement generation so the computer was like this great big foreign box sitting in the room.  But I did #3,  I set my sail and just did it.  I have had lots of help, took classes, listened to all videos and tapes available, asked  questions when I didn’t really know what to ask, but one year later I am on course.  No, I am not done, because as I go I need to keep trimming my sails.   As I see it the journey is not over, life and things change, so must  I.

JUST DO IT…SET YOUR SAIL TOWARDS YOUR GOALS!

I agree with Jim Rohn  says, “The same wind blows on us all, it is the set of sail that changes your life”.

Wishing you massive success,

rebecca russell

REDUCING RISK OF LUNG CANCER FOR MALES.

January 25th, 2009

male-smoker

Studies show:  A Higher antioxidant intake reduce the risk of lung cancer in male smokers

In contrast to previous studies concluding that high-dose beta-carotene supplementation may increase lung cancer risk in male smokers, findings from a Yale study support the hypothesis that a combination of dietary antioxidants reduces lung cancer risk in men who smoke.

Results in past observational studies shows that a high intake of individual antioxidants was related to increased lung cancer risk in male smokers.   More recent  data  suggest that there are interactions among antioxidant nutrients; therefore, consideration of multiple antioxidants simultaneously may be important in terms of assessing risk.

“Yale University researchers evaluated dietary records of participants in the Alpha-Tocopherol, Beta-Carotene Cancer Prevention Study (ATBC), a group of over 27,000 Finnish male smokers aged 50-69 years.”   Based on food records of the participants, intakes of carotenoids, flavonoids, vitamin E, selenium, and vitamin C were analyzed. After evaluating the overall intake of antioxidants in this group, the conclusion was that men with higher overall intakes of antioxidants had lower relative risks of lung cancer regardless of their assigned study group (beta-carotene or placebo).

Concluding that while researchers of the ATBC study concluded that high-dose beta-carotene supplementation may increase lung cancer risk in male smokers, these findings support the hypothesis that a combination of dietary antioxidants does reduce lung cancer risk in men who smoke.

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AN ECONOMIC BREAK IN YOUR VITAMINS?

October 20th, 2008

Cheap vitamins are just that cheap. Do they have the right formulation for healthy cells?

Are they stuffed with fillers? Have you checked yours out? Are you looking for an economical break in your health by taking a cheap “One a Day” vitamin.

I have heard many times from my friends and family, “I do not need vitamins, I am healthy, I eat great and vitamins are just expensive urine”.

Believe what you want but if you really are concerned about good long lasting health then do your due diligence and check out what you are or are not taking as a good healthy food supplement in a vitamin.

Back in our granddaddy’s day, yes food was healthy and provided the vitamins we needed on a daily basis. But today with air and water pollution, chemicals added to the soil and animal’s food to increase production what we put on the table may not be what our body’s cells need to keep healthy long life unless you are isolated on a farm and you can control what you grow and eat.

Today many studies have been made on the new degenerative diseases we are seeing like cancer, diabetes, auto immune diseases, etc. and many have been linked to poor nutrition. I have seen first hand what a good nutritional supplement can do for someone that does suffer from a degenerative disease and how it can turn your health around for the better. I myself was suffering from chronic respiratory problems and was cleared due to the fact that I started taking a good nutritional supplement.

The following video will give a way so that you can test your own vitamins.

Here is to your health that is all we really have!
